Review: Sora VS Pit

Note: There will be spoilers. Read when you're ready.

You wanna know my first reaction when Sora VS Pit was announced? "It's a good thing Pit's an angel, because he's as good as dead."

The Background

I dreaded the day this episode would come out, because I knew that Sora would win. I still bet on Pit winning anyways, just because I didn't want to see him die. And it doesn't help that I have played Kid Icarus: Uprising, which is where a majority of the feats for Pit come from. I never played Kingdom Hearts at all, though I may get my little brother interested in it. It IS Disney mixed with Final Fantasy, after all. You can't really go wrong with that! But did this episode go wrong?

The Analyses

Honestly, the analyses weren't really memorable. And that's really disappointing, since I feel like these two had some pretty clever jokes that could be made. The avatar reference was pretty nice, but it just seemed... standard. Not really outstanding at all. And that just kinda sums up the analyses in general, really. Although, the fact that Boomstick of all people pointed out that the captain of an angel army doesn't even have working angel wings is pretty fantastic.

Favorite quote: "All these weapons were forged by Mentos, the God of Forge." "Dyntos." "Dyntos, the freshmaker!" - Boomstick, when attempting to describe the God of Forge, and Wiz, trying to correct him.

The Animation

Even though the characters bios weren't all that spectacular, the animation definitely made up for it. Zack definitely shows why he's one of the better animators that Screwattack has, because this fight seriously kicks butt! However, my problems with the analyses bring up a problem with the animation as well. Because the characters rundowns were so boring, it's really hard to sit through them, which means that I never do get to see the fight scene, unless I skip right to it. I could do that, but something about that just doesn't feel right. It's the same issue with Raven VS Twilight Sparkle, except it's just as bad here. In fact, they're so similar, that even the music, "Unlocking Heaven" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7_yad6yYas) is the only thing I can remember about this battle, aside from my favorite moment down below. As such, I couldn't really compliment the animation as much as I could for other episodes because I just couldn't remember it well. All in all, the animation's like a movie premiere. While the movie itself is pretty good, you've gotta sit through the boring previews in order to get to it.

Favorite moment: When Pit lands an uppercut against Sora with the upperdash arm, Sora's face looks like it came straight out of a cartoon. And it's just as hilarious as it sounds.

The Verdict

Sora VS Pit was an episode that I expected to happen. I also expected the winner to be pretty straightforward, which was pretty true when looking up predictions for the episode. Sora winning was pretty much given, and it seemed about as obvious as Venom VS Bane's outcome. And while I was hoping the episode would give me something to at least remember, the only thing that's even noteworthy is Sora's dumbstruck face after a sweet uppercut. Otherwise, while I did enjoy myself, it's probably one of the lesser episodes of the season. Sora VS Pit gets a rating of...

6.5/10

As for next time...

I debated making this all just one long review, since I kinda fell behind on reviews for a little bit, but ultimately I decided to give each episode it's own separate review. The next episode after this was Leon Kennedy VS Frank West. Up until the episode's release, I just knew that they were zombie killers. And that's about it. Did the episode disappoint when it came out? Find out on the next exciting edition of AgentRedhead's Honest Opinions!

...Don't judge me. Just meet me back here for my review of Leon Kennedy VS Frank West, which should hopefully be done before the fourth of July. See you then!
